During this technique course, we will be bringing it back to the roots of all art with several drawing techniques and medias. You will learn how to draw from images, draw from real life, and then learn how to give these drawings true form with a range of grayscale medias. In this course, you will learn not only how to use the materials given to you, but you will also walk away with a deeper understanding of the property of light and how to see the world around you.
During this technique course, we will be exploring a range of wet and dry color medias. The course schedule will begin with a refresher drawing class before it launches into the many concepts of color theory and media exploration. In this course, you will learn not only how to use the materials given to you, but you will also walk away with a deeper understanding of the properties and theory of color.

The juried show will have a soft opening on April 14 and the opening reception will be held on Saturday, April 23 from 12 – 2 pm with artists in attendance and winning artisans to be announced.
Meet our Juror: Beatriz Rodriguez is a faculty member at Wayne State College where she teaches print making and drawing. Before coming to Wayne State College, Beatriz worked closely with renowned artist, Mira Lehr and taught at the University of Miami as well as in the Museum of Contemporary Art in Florida. Her work has been exhibited in places such as the Yellowstone Art Museum, Remarque Print Workshop in New Mexico, FAR Gallery in Florida and H Gallery in California. Her work has been published in Saw Palm: Florida Literature and Art as well as in Voyage Magazine Miami.
Many of her fellow instructors at Wayne State College will be joining as the faculty and staff were invited to exhibit alongside the Juried Show.
