February Fun

February may be a short month, but it’s long on fun at the Norfolk Arts Center! Classes, theatre, exhibits – there’s no shortage of things to do.

Have you seen all of the press about our current exhibit by Rachel Mindrup and Kelly Rush? This extraordinarily moving exhibit is only here through February 22nd, so hurry down to see it for yourself. As always, our exhibits are free and open to the public.

The Lightning Thief hits the stage at the Johnny Carson Theater on February 22nd as well. The national touring production by Theatreworks USA is based on the best-selling book The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan. Performances are at 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Tickets are $4 per seat and are available day of show at the box office. If you have a large group that would like to attend, please call the NAC for seating arrangements.

Classes are in full swing. Beer 101 was held in conjunction with the Divot’s Brewery. Students learned the basics of brewing, learned about ingredients and flavor, and sampled a variety of styles. Students in Jewelry Design: The Beauty and Power of Crystals learned about the properties of crystals and created one-of-a-kind bracelets. Saturday Studio and Afterschool Art Club are teaching a variety of techniques and mediums to children. Drop-ins are available on the children’s classes for $10. The second session is coming up soon, so register now to ensure your space in a class. Browse through our course offerings here on the website. We have something for all ages – from toddlers to adults.

February 16th is Community Game Night. Stop down and try your hand at one of the game tables. Free and open to the public!
